The Banner of Honor, initiated by The International Association for Integration, Dignity and Economic Advancement, IDEA, a Coalition member, is a way to honor individuals who have had leprosy/Hansen’s disease who are no longer with us–individuals who have inspired us and made great contributions to our world. The Banner is composed of a panel from each country or community. These panels are hung on a wall or displayed in different ways at local and international events. They have been displayed at International Leprosy Congresses in Belgium and India; the African Leprosy Congress in South Africa; and an international conference on Stigma, Identity and Human Rights on Robben Island. The Banner of Honor is dynamic and continually added to. Currently, 24 communities from around the world have created panels for the banner.
For more information on creating a panel, please write to the Coalition Secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org.
